Safety In the Sun |
|
Enjoy the sun in safety, at home and on holiday
- If the summer sun is shining, apply sunscreen generously and often.
- Protect children's skin from sun damage whenever they play outside.
- Cover up and seek shade when the sun is strongest, between 11a.m. and 3p.m.
- Remember that the sun at home can be just as damaging to the skin as in holiday destinations.
- Be aware that too much sun can cause skin irritation, heat exhaustion and sun stroke. Children are especially vulnerable.
Be generous with sunscreen
- To ensure full protection from your sunscreen, apply 20 to 30 minutes before going out into the sun. This allows it to form a protective film on the skin.
- Apply sunscreen thickly and evenly over all exposed areas and reapply it frequently.
- Use a high SPF. It's a myth that using an SPF of 15 or higher will stop you getting a tan. If the skin does not burn, it tans more slowly and, without blistering and peeling, your tan will last longer.
Protect your family's skin in the sun
- The higher the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) number, the better the protection.
- Keep babies out of the sun, in the shade.
- Loose-fitting clothes will help to keep babies cooler.
- For toddlers and youngsters, apply one of Malibu's specially formulated SPF30 Kids lotions and protect them with sunglasses, a hat and loose clothes.
- Always apply sun lotion generously and reapply it frequently.
- Avoid over-exposure to the sun. Do not get burned.
